And The Protagonist is?........

Well actually the main protagonist of the animation is'nt actually a good guy. He's a Bank robber, so i guess you could say he's not the ideal role model for your children! After we finesed the script we went about doing Sketches for the main character. Here a some of mine.

Pre-Cognitive Premise...

The animation i've been working on this year is a group project titled 'Cognitive Playground'. Sounds intelligent doesn't it! Or maybe that was just me! Anyway, concerning the premise for the short film: We are transported into the kids imaginary world through a drawing that is on his desk in his bedroom. Once in the imaginary world we meet our main Character, a robber who just robbed a bank. No sooner does he come walking out of the explosion caused in order to escape a police car speeds round the corner and starts shooting at him. The robber runs for his life and a game of 'Cops & Robbers' begins. Fantastic things happen along the way which enable the officer and the robber to get the upper hand, things that cant be explained even by the characters in the animated imaginary world. Eventualy thre is a climax and the animation ends because the kid is being called by one of his parents. How it all unfolds, well, you'll just have to wait to see the finished animation! My main roles in the film are enviroments (modelling), texturing and lighting. But i helped with pre production then animatic process and camera work as well as animation.

WHATS NEXT?!

Well i guess i better show something! Since this is a blog mainly for my uni BA end of year film it would make sense to show some stuff regarding that wouldn't it?! Just playin! Before I do that I'll show you some images from the animated short film that i did for my end of year project last year. The film was called Lazy Dayz and was my first real dig into 3D. I kinda latched onto Maya as an application but i didnt have much time to learn it so i did the best i could. The main character in the animation was my first ever full 3D model so i've got a bit of a soft spot for him! He's a biped dog with a bit of an attitude. Rigging him and doing the blend shapes etc was and interesting experience! And then there was the animation! As i said before this was my first time ha ha! I found that i really enjoyed setting the scene and lighting the film, atmosphere is important. Again this was my first time doing any of this so be gentle!!! Here are some more images from the film:

Beginings

"I long to accomplish a great and noble thing. But it is my chief duty to acomplish small things as if they were great and noble" -Helen Keller-
So this is where the Blog story starts! To be honest with you this is the first time i've ever done a blog so this is going to be a real journey for me too. This Blog is intially for my CVA (University Animation and Film) course. But i've got the feeling that it will be charting my journeys in animation for a while. I'm hoping that the end of each journey will bring me closer to my goals and to my dreams. Well as with all things only time will tell..........Hope you enjoy the ride!
